Identifying and Remediating Standardized Patient Biases in Scoring

SIMULATIONiQ Webinar
OVERVIEW

Standardized patient (SP) performance assessments are subject to many sources of error. If left unchecked, such errors can lead to unwanted scoring variance. The goal of this interactive workshop will be to provide an overview of common biases that can affect SP scoring and demonstrate a process for identifying and remediating such biases in SPs. At the end of this interactive workshop SP educators will be able to:

  • Define sources of psychometric scoring bias
  • Define implicit and explicit bias, and
  • Conduct a non-judgmental process with SPs to educate them about common scoring biases, and help them to identify how the biases may potentially adversely affect their scoring
