Do not miss this opportunity to learn about an important topic in healthcare simulation training: standardized patient (SP) scoring biases. SP performance assessments are subject to many sources of error. If left unchecked, such errors can lead to unwanted scoring variance.

This presentation provides an overview of common biases that can affect SP scoring and demonstrates a process for identifying and remediating such biases in SP, helping educators:

  1. Define sources of psychometric scoring bias
  2. Define implicit and explicit bias, and
  3. Conduct a non-judgmental process with SPs to educate them about common scoring biases, and help them to identify how the biases may potentially adversely affect their scoring
