EMS is proud to celebrate National Nurses Week! Sponsored by the American Nurses Association (ANA), the 2017 National Nurses Week explores the theme “Nursing: the Balance of Mind, Body, and Spirit.” It’s all about celebrating nurses who lead the charge for health and wellness.
Each year, National Nurses Week runs May 6 through May 12, Florence Nightingale’s birthday. As of 1998, May 8 was designated as National Student Nurses Day, to be celebrated annually. And as of 2003, National School Nurse Day is celebrated on the Wednesday within National Nurses Week each year.
ANA is the leading organization that represents the interests of the nation’s 3.6 million registered nurses. ANA advances the nursing profession by fostering high standards of nursing practice for quality patient care, promoting a safe and ethical work environment, bolstering the health and wellness of nurses, and advocating on health care issues that affect nurses and the public. ANA is at the forefront of improving the quality of health care for all.
Since 1896, ANA has championed and promoted the nursing profession. Each of ANA’s state and territorial nurses associations promotes the nursing profession at the state and regional levels. Each conducts celebrations on these dates to recognize the contributions that nurses and nursing make to the community.
EMS encourages all nurses and nursing professionals to join ANA for a free, exclusive webinar today, May 10: A Nurse’s Guide to Preventing Compassion Fatigue, Moral Distress, and Burnout.
